• Perfect Size and Shape
  Memory Stick resembles to a stick of gum in appearance and its length is about the same as that of an AA battery used in Walkman headphone stereos. The shape of Memory Stick is ergonomically designed making it easy to handle. And, unlike other flash memory cards, it is easy to distinguish the front from the back and the top from the bottom of a Memory Stick to prevent misuse or accidental loss of data. Its small size also allows development of compatible products that are compact and portable. Memory Stick is designed to be highly resistant to shock and vibration due to its solid-state construction with no moving parts. The connector unit and pins have special features that provide reliability as described below. The shape of Memory Stick makes it easy to insert into products and ensures highly reliable exchange of data.

• Fewer Connector Pins for Higher Reliability
  Memory Stick has only 10 pins with longer lengths to ensure more reliable exchange of data .

• Self-Cleaning Design Feature
  The slanted guide grooves, remove dust automatically when a Memory Stick is inserted into the slot. The unique guide grooves prevent the user from touching the connector pins thus avoiding damage to the chip caused by dirt or static electricity. Users can prevent accidental loss of important content and data, by simply sliding the erasure prevention switch on the back of each Memory Stick

• Large Data Capacity
  Memory Stick is available in a range of capacities, up to 128MB (as of August 2001). Higher-capacity media will continue to be developed to respond to a broad range of user requirements. The capacity of 128MB is roughly equivalent to 90 high-density floppy disks. In the future, Memory Stick with capacities in excess of 1GB will be offered.

• High-Speed Data Transfer
  Memory Stick offers high-speed data transfer because it uses flash memory. Currently, the maximum speed is 2.5MB/s. Anticipating wider use of rich content, such as music and video; data transmission speed will further be enhanced up to 20MB/s.

• Content Versatility
  Memory Stick accommodates a variety of application formats. These allow a seamless sharing and exchange of data between compatible products of different manufacturers. Because of this, Memory Stick is capable of recording various types of digital content on a single stick of media.
